Seeing out the old

I took part in Scotland The World Over!
I'm not fond of New Year - generally I'm glad when it is here and would happily just sleep through the event.
In anticipation, as a treat to me, I booked Northern Ballet for today  and my friend and I have just got back from seeing Sleeping Beauty in Leeds. It was Ab Fab!

Chris on the other hand enjoys New Year celebrations so later this evening we are having a few good friends over for supper and a drink or two!

I set the table before we left for the ballet. I thought it being a big event in Scotland it was suitable for Scotland the World over. Also I have Scottish shortbread out on the table.

Not the only country represented - we have Swedish Christmas biscuits; Christmas cake as it should be with Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese! I shall be putting out Italian Panetone and American style  lemon and raspberry cheesecake.  Chris is making a lovely beef stew and we will have French bread and Italian Foccacia with it.
Drinks include Danish and Australian lager, Irish cream and Scottish whisky.
I think we are making a good attempt at the 'world over' theme
