Vaux-le-Vicomte

We left Paris to see Nicolas Fouquet's castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte yesterday in Melun, about 30 minutes out of the city. It had special decorations up for Christmas in all of the main rooms (you can get a sense of them from the Christmas trees and carousel here). I'm not sure it *needed* any additional decor but it was very pretty. The gardens were beautiful, almost as nice as Versailles. I can understand why Louis XIV was jealous of what Fouquet had built here!

We came home and celebrated my in-laws' last night in Paris with oysters and seafood pasta. They've just left for the airport... We are very sad to see them go!
