Hitching a ride...
The final day...many kilometres covered and metres descended as we headed down the valley to Birenthe. Glorious day, the usual (god damn) cold start and then as we emerged from the trees the sun shone and warmed us up. The usual daily adventure...naughty horses who were supposed to be carrying heavy loads but decided to have a 'race', shedding their loads in an extravagent manner as they kicked up dust on the track. The owner was rather pissed off...he did run pretty quickly after them!!! As we watched the furore and helped him pick up his discarded goods, this little fella decided to hitch a ride on Paul's rucksack. What wonderful colours.
The arrival in Birenthi, to a small lodge, involved a celebatory beer. Warm soup. Eleven hours of sleep. I'm going to miss this lifestyle.
