My First Roast

I have been so lazy the past few days. I'm talkin' super lazy. A post Christmas slump, if you will. I've barely done anything, so today I thought I should be a little more active and went into town to do a few things and got some food at Sainsbury's.

I also decided that I would make a nice dinner for Jonny (I feel bad that he's back at work and I'm lazing about all day), so I decided to tackle my first roast. I have made a roast before on a couple of occasions, but I must admit to cheating - I bought one of the 'ready to roast' beefs (which came with ready-to-pour gravy) and a packet of oven roast potatoes.. This time, however, I wanted to start from scratch. I bought a plain lump of lamb (and smothered it with all sorts of herbs) and all the veggies to go along with it - carrots, parsnip, potatoes, sweet potato and broccoli (and a cheeky wee packet of yorkshire puddings!)

For a first time roast, I wasn't expecting much, but my god - it was amazing! My potatoes were a little crispy on the outside (not quite enough for my liking) and delicious and fluffy on the inside. The lamb was so tender it melted in my mouth.

I've just realised that I've basically been boasting about my roast for this entire entry. It's just that I'm quite proud of myself - and my mum would have been too!

(Also, I have been too lazy to go out and about and take pictures - hence the lack of activity! The weather hasn't been kind to me either, it's hard to find motivation to go outside when there's a horrid wind and rain combination! Must go outside and take decent pictures!)
