Great Egret - Ardea alba

Woke up today to lots of wind and rain. Decided to try taking photos from an upstairs window, for a change of pace, and found that we have quite an amazing view of the pond from above....why didn't I think of this before?

I was watching the usual flocks of birds and ducks fly in and out, when out of the corner of my eye, I caught a white Great Egret fly in. He spent the next two hours circling the pond, getting his morning meal. Several times he flew a short distance and settled down again, which gave me a few chances for in flight photos. He is quite a beautiful bird (hey, maybe he is a she?).
