Dunnideer

We re-energised ourselves today with a short, sharp Boxing Day walk to the top of Dunnideer - a climb of approximately 100m in height over a horizontal distance of around 300m.

At the top stands what is left of the old 13th Century Bailliol Tower House in the midst of an ancient hill fort.

On the horizon, in the gap between stacks of ruined masonry, one can just make out another summit topped by a hill fort - the Tap O'Noth.

The wind at the top of Dunnideer around lunchtime today was considerable, so having reached our goal, we soon headed back down to the shelter of the beech trees - and our waiting car - below.
