Another Languedoc year...

By SweetApricots

Winter, what winter?

This is my favourite bit of the vineyard. In summer it smells of pine and wild thyme. In the spring the borders are spiked with wild asparagus. Today the shone shone so brightly thad I was in shirtsleeves.

So unseasonal is the weather that I dug two kilos of new potatoes from the vineyard potager today. This time last year I planted all my seed potatoes. The summer was so dry that, no matter how much I watered, the potatoes were just awful - and then bugs started boring holes in them. So I abandoned them. Then the heavy rains of this autumn kicked them off again and now we have loads which need to be dug before the frosts turn them green. Madness.
