Christmas Cuts
Ironically Girl was the first to bed for once and also the last to get up. I think this is probably due to Father Christmas. Every night since we have been at Granny and Grandpa's it has taken a couple of hours to get her to settle in bed. Last night though she told me how Father Christmas know if she was sleeping as so she had to get to sleep. Obviousley going to sleep at the normal time agreed with her as we all had to wait for her to arise to assess whether we had had a generous visitor in the night.
I can confirm that we must all have been good as full stockings were there for one and all. Also all the presents (too many) had appeared under the tree. This was greeted with "WOW, look at all those presents" from Girl. So that was the excitment level set for the day.
Last year Girl was really interested in her actual presents and wanted to play with them as they were opened. This year she was more interested in the opening process itself which really increased her excitement levels. Girl was particulary taken with some munched ginger bread men cutters that were someone else's gift. Boy was more interested in having a play and was not really interested in presents at all. In fact he was most exited when a ball appeared when we went for a mid afternoon run around at the windy playing fields up the road.
It was a lovely day full of excitment and fun and, I think we all agreed at bedtime when we struggled to pull two little ones down from the high they were on, probably too many presents.
And to think we have not even opened them all and still have a load more at home. I think the bedtime process will probably continue to be a struggle for a while yet, but then it is a special time and it only happens once a year so maybe we shouldn't worry too much!
