Nerd Reading
Not what I should be reading.
Re-discovered one of my favorite fantasy series of all time.
Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.
Never did get past book 5.
Book 6 was just intimidating.
People often claim that Tolkien *created* the fantasy genre and that Robert Jordan *improved* on it.
Each book is about 700 pages long (1200 for book six, I believe).
There are 12 of them out and I can't wait to get back into it.
While working on my thesis, of course.
Story update:
Reminder that this is a story, not drawn from my life or anyone I know. This is entirely a work of fiction. Any likeness to actual events or people is entirely coincidental and completely possible.
Where we left off...
I glanced at the hand he was steadying me with. And realized that it was soaked. And so was he.
I shoved him away. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!"
"For what?"
"You're SOAKED!"
"So?"
"Can you still play if you're that wet?"
He looked down. Shrugged. "Probably not. It'll just have to be a longer than usual intermission. I'll just change before the next set."
I felt so bad. Seems he noticed.
"Hey. Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're not hurt."
I blushed. Told myself to stop it. He was just concerned for another human being. That was it. But I couldn't help the feeling of hope.
"I'm still sorry."
"Nothing we can do now."
His next line surprised me a bit.
"Except to enjoy the rain."
