Travelling Crib

Mary and Joseph are visiting us this evening as they travel around local households during the period of Advent. The following small play is played out in each receiving household throughout the period.

MARY AND JOSEPH NEED A PLACE TO STAY

Visitors knock on the door or ring the bell of the next home.

The door opens .......

Visitors: Please can you help us? Mary and Joseph need a place to stay.
Homeowner: Why can't they go home?
Visitors: They have to go to Bethlehem and it's a long, long, way.
Homeowner: Please come in and stay with us.
Visitors: Thank you very much. We will only stay one night.
Homeowner: Mary looks very tired.
Visitors: Mary is expecting a baby.
Homeowner: You will be safe with us tonight.
