The Way

On the frontier of Lancashire and Yorkshire, this piece of the Pennine Way bends but doesn't dip, high above a valley crammed with a river, a canal, a railway and a road. Not many feet and wheels up there today, as the boiling clouds and rivalling winds have only just ceased covering yesterday's and invited today's. Nowhere finer on a pre-Christmas Saturday.
