flying avenger...

...of the duck variety

went to the little pond this afternoon... i haven't been there in quite some time and it was filled with geese and ducks... i guess they've come from the other area lakes for the winter now - even though it's beginning to be frozen over.

lots of playing and frolicking was happening - and the ducks especially were frisky... there was non-stop slipping and sliding on the ice - flying and hovering over a couple of water holes left in the frozen areas... and much quacking amongst them all... perhaps there's something in the air as i had many photo opps to chose from - but this one got my attention - as he swooped overhead coming in fast for a landing... i'm not certain what he was expecting - but he was focused and determined - seeming to convey a message to get out of his way. always interesting to watch their behavior and certainly makes for...
