Parus Major

Along the Longniddry-Haddington Railway walk today trying to break in a new pair of wellies. With limited sucess. Ouch.

There were plenty of little tweety birds flying about along the walk. Blackbirds, tits, chaffinches. Some of the chaffinches may be Scandanavian, according to my copy of "Collins Scottish Birds" as they fly over and mix with our native population.

Halfway along there is a car park and some kind people have put out a fat ball and a peanut hanger. This is a Great Tit, who are top of the pecking order in the tit world according to "Scottish Birds" which is why the Blue Tit is waiting in the background. A Chaffinch wasn't bothered though but they don't seem to have the feet to grip like the tits so it kept flying in a bit like a hummingbird into a flower and grabbing what food it could with its beak.
