Sweet Box

A native of Western China, this shrub looks attractive all year round with its glossy pointed leaves and berries that change from green to red then black. It thrives in shade and needs little looking after apart from an occasional clip. It is in my garden and we are looking forward to January. I believe the plant is toxic and the berries are not eaten by birds here.
