Insects on a stick

OK, I'm really sorry if you are squeamish but Jodie insisted that this was the 'photo of the day'!

After she finished work, we headed up to the Olympic Park to find the national stadium. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a view as fantastic as this, but at least we saw the 'bird nest'- albiet in thick smog and almost zero visibility!

We then headed off back into town and found this fella working his trade along a hutong adjacent to the Wangfujing Shopping Street in central Beijing.

His selection of scorpions and bugs certainly made sure that the noodles we had at lunchtime were enough to see us through until the end of the day.
