All my own work
I made this in an hour and a half this afternoon and I am dead chuffed! T cut the piece of wood and dressed it but I sanded (4 grades, 7 minutes a grade), designed it, shaped it and then waxed it (3 layers, 5 minutes each to soak in), made the hole to fit the clock face. T finished that off. And on the bottom, out of sight, I signed and dated it. It's made of parana pine, reclaimed from a church pew and I think it's beautiful. A new metier?
Elsewhere, met JP from Leamington Spa today, followed by a 3 course lunch and finally a chat with S.
The big event was this evening, the Southside Choir, Christmas Concert. I had a bit of a sartorial glitsch (forgot the sides of the back top were chiffon!) and we had an enormous kerfuffle about getting up the stairs and on the stage in the right order. Our MD made us go back down the stairs and start again and we were STILL in the wrong order. Her teacher patience was beginning to run out! But we sang our hearts out, the junior choir were great, the clarsach player amazing and the audience fantastic. We had an encore planned but another (slight) getting off kerfuffle meant it didn't happen. Some people just don't listen to instructions! Maybe better to leave them shouting for more.
A select group of us went to the 'Southsider' to congratulate ourselves on the squashy armchairs but a few pints and a couple of bottles of white. The last bus home, into Scotmid 4 minutes before it closed and then, like Cinderella, home after midnight, meaning another backblip.
A great, and very satisfying day.
