One of Those Days
I know you've all had days like mine today -- dull light, bad weather, lots of other things you have to do. I found it more frustrating than usual, having had a run of Blips recently that I was pleased with, for the most part.
Over the course of today, I have taken photos -- Blip-possibilities -- of the following: (1) my tiny dish of Murray River pink sea salt, with its dear little wooden salt spoon; (2) one of my great-grandmother's teaspoons; (3) the little altar in my kitchen (earth, air, fire, water) ;and (4) various buildings and shops in the Fairhaven district, including some nighttime shots (OK, late afternoon -- but it was dark).
But none of them were quite Blip-worthy.
So once again, you're seeing a photo I took in Village Books, where I purchased five books today for the book angel tree, visible in the background, an annual collection for children who otherwise might not get any books, or any presents at all, for Christmas. I also bought two books for my grand-niece and picked up a book, signed by the author, for our grandson.
As always, it was an exceedingly pleasant experience. I feel blessed to live in a community with a bookshop like this one. And although this will not go down in history as one of my best blips, Yay! Reading! says it all for me. I am who I am as much from the thousands of books I've read as from any of the other major influences in my life.
