The best Christmas decoration...

This rocking horse gets pride of place on our Christmas tree...

I remember choosing this ornament from a garden centre when I was about 3 or 4. Every year, it was the one ornament I had to put on the tree, and when I moved away, my mum saved it for me to put on each year when I came home.

A few years ago, my brother decided that he only wanted round baubles on the tree. I arrived home and put my rocking horse on the tree, in pride of place. He moved it to the back. I moved it to the front again. He moved it back again.

This went on the whole time, and then the following year, and the year after. The next Christmas, I was married... and had a tree of my own, and my rocking horse could take pride of place. It's the first thing I put on after the lights... I love this little rocking horse, and look forward to having kids who can have their own ornaments that are special to them too.
