Brunswick Station

Bit of a boring blip but these stones mark the site of a railway station, opened in 1848 and closed in 1862 as part of the York Midland Railway. At this time nearby Knaresborough was more important than Harrogate so it was mainly use for transportation of goods.

It was not until the late 1800s that Harrogate developed into a spa town with the new station in the centre of the town to cater for the influx of visitors to 'take the waters'.
