Boucherie alsacienne
ah, the little pleasures of being back home...
My mom and I went to get some food stuff for the next few days and one of the stops was at the local butcher. I know that doesn't necessarily sounds thrilling but the sights and even smells (who'd have known?) were wonderful. There's something about going beyond just a utilitarian display and making sure food items are shown at their best that the French do so very well.
The store has been opened since I was a kid; a treat back then is that each kid in tow of a parent was always given a little piece of whatever cold cuts were featured that day. As I recalled that aloud to my mom, the butcher winked at me and handed me a morsel of delicious charcuterie. Yes, some things are best when they never change. :)
