New View
We moved Bruce to a quieter room on the other side of the hospital, so he could get some rest. This is the view from the window at sundown, as Matt and Ryan and I sit and watch him lie in an uneasy sleep.
Yesterday they cut a piece of his temporal artery out and sent it to the lab. Today we found out the test was positive.
He has some form of vasculitis, an inflammation of the arteries. It's caused by an overenthusiastic immune system, set off my an unknown trigger.
The treatment is prednisone, which has some nasty side effects. But the disease is much worse and will not go away without the medicine. So today they started him on a giant whipping dose of the stuff, and we are waiting to confirm that it works.
