The start

of the inter House cross country championships. We - blue shirts - are almost the slowest overall, but were able to find some pride by winning the Senior Championship - which is down to the 10 fastest runners in each House. Our average was 1.93 seconds better than the next lot.

I'm feeling smug today - much coverage of the initiative to revive the teaching of computing (Independent , BBC, inter alia).

We already do some of that here, and my boss S. is working on plans to bring back Computing A level. Lots of fun in store - my white-haired stories of hand-crafting assembler code onto 5-bit tape with a bodkin, one bit at a time are less useful than good websites. Maybe we can do our bit (hoho) to keep the knowledge economy going.
