Eating Out
Day Two.
Less distance to cover and more time to do it in = a much more leisurely pace. We were able to stop and snorkel for a while and generally take in a bit more of the scenery. Just before lunchtime, we had to navigate around a peninsula where two currents collide. It was treacherous to say the least. We all had moments of thinking "%@£$ we might not make this". It was one of those situations that you knew you had to get out of before your energy completely depleted, otherwise there would be no chance. Our guides later told us that the waves were the highest they've seen them. Ironically we all felt this was a highlight of the trip. Go figure. We paddled to a little village called Lima that's only accessible by sea, to camp for the night. The locals don't see many westerners; on our jaunt down to check out the local shops, every car that passed us by beeped and waved. Very friendly bunch.
