Heartache

Had some free time in the afternoon so took myself off to The Cameo with accompanying coffee and donut for a magical matinee experience with, erm, grim-as-anything Autralian serial killer drama Snowtown. Gripping and super-tense all the way through with this violence simmering, simmering, simmering away just waiting to explode. There were only half a dozen folk in the audience but I could hear at least four of them, me included, shifting uncomfortably in their seats at what I will simply refer to as 'The Bathroom Scene'. Recommended but far from an easy watch and definitely not for the faint-hearted. Still on one show a day I think, or wait 'til it's on as a double bill with the equally excellent Australian crime drama Animal Kingdom. It's bound to be, it's such an obvious pairing.

As for today's music, well I could very easily give you some more from the stupendously good new Floating Points release but I did that yesterday. So, instead I'll simply link to the finest thing I heard all day. I'd never heard it before, but as it came on my headphones as I was in the queue at the supermarket checkout I swear that the aisles suddenly got emptier, the lights got brighter, the queue moved faster and the whole place went wider than wide widescreen as the production soared and soared ever skywards. Magnificent.
