The Long and Winding Road
Back to the Carradale Road today, decided to head on to Carradale and through to Campbletown. Can fully understand why this road is supposed to have inspired Paul mc Cartney to write the song about the long an winding road.
Wonderful scenery ajoy to travel there until the hailstones came down and it was a complete whiteout. When they had stopped falling the road was deep in hailstones and conditions were tricky to sy theleast. We were stuck behond a tanker which slithered up a steep , winding hill, stopped on the corner and trouble getting beyond the corner. After a long delay we ventually got over the top of the hill and back down towards Saddle Abbey. yet mor views so wonderful, i thoufgt of Alisdair from Carradale( moments in time) who travels along this road for his weekly shopping. Great in summer but the very thought of it in winter is very scary.
Anyway we survived to tell the tale and I got a very quick blip from a layby on the way.
