Peeking through the hedge

I've always thought that this street sign looks a bit silly, embedded about 50cm into the hedge. I'm not sure who thought that it would be a better idea to cut a hole in the hedge so that the sign is still visible rather than either moving the sign or trimming the entire hedge. I wouldn't exactly say that the sign is particularly visible by now anyway, unless you're already turning into the street, which I feel defies the point a little...

I wonder how much more the hedge will be allowed to grow before the sign is moved or the hedge is trimmed back. Rather a long time I suspect!
