Rooks
We spent the day driving back home; we set out in fog that we assumed would lift as the day wore on, but it never did. It didn't clear till we got past Carlisle; once over the border and the weather was fine and clear.
When we stopped at Tebay services it was almost dark (and still foggy). A huge flock of rooks was wheeling around over the car park cawing loudly; I think their rookery is in the trees alongside the car park so this must have been some pre-roosting ritual. What a racket!
