This little White box...
I never knew how dependant I was on the Internet till I didn't have regular access to it. Most people would agree that the Internet has become a daily fixture in our lives and is in fact a negative thing.
Living with my uncle for 2 months - who is a self-proclaimed bushman and has lived perfectly happy without the existence of Internet in his house - I did not have any access. I learnt to deal with the fact that I couldn't just look up the weather forecast or bus times but sat back every-night with a glass of wine and the fire and soon forgot the nagging feeling of having to check my emails or watching reruns or catchups of missed programs.
I have just recently moved into a flat in Queenstown where I now have wifi access. And the best thing hasn't been the vast amount of information now at my finger tips. It's been the communication with others!
This little White box has allowed me to skype and facetime my family and friends who are currently all over the world.
In the morning I was in Edinburgh with my parents, in the evening I was in Italy with my sister. Tomorrow I'm in Madrid with an old friend followed by a quick visit to Aberdeenshire with my closest friend.
Been able to see and speak to them instantly and with no running phone bill costs is amazing! Rather than being cutoff from them I can now regularly keep in touch and to actually see them to me is wonderful.
And even better- I can now blip every day! :-)
