The Chief

Wow, today we (me and two girlfriends) climbed The Chief with our babies strapped on. If you are not familiar with The Chief, it is a great big hulk of granite, the second largest in the world. You can see what it looks like on August 31 (http://www.blipfoto.com/entry/1462656)

The hike was pretty tough work. It's 600 metres of fairly steep incline and some parts are so steep that you have to use chains and climb ladders. And yes, we did it with our babies, which might sound odd but in Squamish this is fairly average behaviour. Everyone is very fit and outdoorsy. Pretty much everyone rock climbs, snowboard/skis and mountain bikes.

Sadly I discovered that I am very out of shape. I stopped snowboarding when I was three months pregnant and haven't done much exercise since. My legs were sore for three days after the hike.

Anyway, the hike was tough but the view was worth it. You can see right up the valley towards Whistler and down the coast towards Vancouver (as per this pic).
