1983 was a VERY good year!
1983, the year the worlds most popular word processing programme is launched - Microsoft Word. The first mobile phones , are introduced to the public by the Motorola Company. Breakfast TV starts in UK with the BBC Breakfast Time and TV-a.m. Margaret Thatcher wins landslide victory in General Elections . The First Person to Receive an Artificial Heart, Barney Clark,from USA dies after 112 days. Seatbelt use for drivers and front seat passengers becomes mandatory in the United Kingdom. IRA Bomb Exploded outside Harrods on December 17th during the pre Christmas Shopping Season.
Popular Culture 1983:
Final Episode of M*A*S*H airs and a record 125 million watch. Cabbage Patch Dolls are sold in shops and become a success. (not that you will be interested Fraz!)West German news magazine Stern publish the Hitler Diaries which turn out to be Forgeries

However for our family, 1983 was a VERY important year. It was the year our son was born. He now lives and works in London but we are in constant touch and it is nice to know that even at his age, he still enjoys coming home whenever he can. This Blip hopefully has a little bit of all of us in it - dad's new desk, a photo of our 'one and only' and a message from his mum .
