Remembering
11.00 am
Silence
The world pauses in it's Sunday business.
Lest we forget
not only the fallen
but the families left bereft
without the smile or kiss
of loved ones newly gone ,
or long ago.
Remembering Swinton
eldest of five and a lost uncle,
and my grandmother
grieving far away
from the horrors of war
for her only son.
His grave lies in France
amongst many others
in a quiet graveyard
under a tree
with a posy of flowers
laid by the generations
he never knew.
Requiem in Pace.
