Turn on the light

I saw the remains of a bad housefire at the end of my street. Lots of police, fireman and folk in green overalls with face masks were there. A large pile of charred life lay outside the blackened windows. The melted spine of a tv, a twisted wire bra, furniture chewed back into sticks... Destruction is fascinating as a bystander. How it all unravels. Is that just voyeurism? I felt uneasy taking photographs so haven't posted.

Later in middle of watching a film the power goes. I grab a torch and switch off all plugs. I go outside, its half the street. I think its connected to the house fire. The flat and stairwell are cast in strange shadows. I light some candles and flick open a David Lynch book I'm reading on creativity. It opens on this page...
