Remembrance Day 111111

My grandmother had this photo taken of her two elder children as they prepared to go off to do their duty for King and Country in the First World War, Dan to the war in Europe and Mollie to the War Office in Wellington. At war's end he came home safely and went on to lead a long and very productive life. She died of the Spanish flu while her fiancé's troopship was in the harbour waiting to berth.


This is a composite image. I don't pick the flowers and intended taking the photo to the poppies, but there was too much dew. I didn't want to risk damaging the photo.

Remembrance Day last year, one of my favourites. There was no need for post-processing there.
