Don't let me down.
When we first saw this apartment last November, one of my favourite things about it was the elevator. I've always loved old elevators from which you can see the floors as you pass by. Plus, being on the 6th floor, no elevator makes for a lot of stairs! Well this elevator has been a charm, it has worked perfectly well every single day since we arrived in August... today, for the first time, it let me down. Of course I had just come back from grocery shopping and had all the heavy stuff too. Oh well. Makes for good exercise, and it was fixed and operational again pretty quickly.
I had a productive day of editing and writing. Good thing too as tomorrow is another holiday for the girls. They went back to school for two days last week after the Toussaint holiday, and this week they've had a four day week (3.5 days for Ch). There is a crazy amount of homework to be done, though - just in case we were having too much fun. Ch has to memorize a poem that is just shy of being a short story ("Les Oies sauvages" by Maupassant), plus fractions, grammar, spelling, a fiche de lecture on a Perrault tale...
