Mighty oak

One of the great trees on the Knightshayes Estate, near Tiverton in Devon. Another remarkably dry, warm day (15ºC), and despite frequent and heavy rain, it is has still turned out to be the best autumn we have had here for years. And just the ideal sort of day for the dogs, Ella, the blue merle collie, and, Louis, the Labrador; so much better to be racing around in piles of dry leaves than wading through mud.
