Week Who Knows?

My little muses were unable to attend tonight. Too much homework and they were feeling the pressure. Thankfully someone else had brought in a model and here is the rather dashing Jamie.

I liked this shot of him, however it apparently will never print. Clearly I am learning nothing then. I took several shots which I liked for various reasons, some because they had negative or dead space in them - a feature I am really drawn to in a portrait. Others because they had background in them or weren't lit according to his master's plan. I do wish he would tell us the plan before we shoot. At the moment I am doing the research, finding individual styles that I like and adapting them.

I could have argued that the over exposed chiseled jaw was my unique style or that the half head was again something I found interesting, but it was never going to sit well with him. I think he thinks I am in the class to please him. I realise that I never will, nor do I want to.

Do I sound a bit fed up? Perhaps a little, but at least I'm unique, because I'm worth it.

Technical critique I love, it's what drives me to do more, but not accepting we see things differently does bother me a little. I suppose, or hope, he is only trying to show me the best techniques he knows.

I had a wonderful walk today with a friend, he walked the legs off me and I have the blisters to prove it.
