Ghost trees on Pico Ruivo
Initially we picked another levada walk. While we were on our way to the starting point we realized how clear the sky was. A few minutes later we had turned around to head to the highest mountain of Madeira. We parked the car and walked the last few kilometers to reach the highest point Pico Ruivo. The view was fantastic ... you could pretty much see the entire island.
I also really liked those trees that looked so weathered ... reminded me of ghosts.
A couple of hours later we drove back to the starting point of the walk we had wanted to go on initially. The parking lot was located on this plateau with the walk leading down into the valley. Needless to say, the walk down was a lot easier than making our way back up to the parking lot.
Nothing lazy about this part of the vacation! :)
