While on my runs

Leaving the spotlight

Another backblip. The lack of electricity still means that I cannot access the internet easily at the Beach House, and I choose to wait until I am back in Auckland, as I now am.

I spontaneously awoke this morning just before the sun rose above the horizon, and realising that, I went out with the Pentax and over about ten minutes I took a dozen photographs of the changing sky. If I work out how, I think one or more would go well in my Blipfolio.

I then headed out on the long run along the Snells Beach frontage. The beach front path is called Erceg's Way recognising locals who contributed to its construction. The path allows one to avoid both the roadway and the sand; sand is very stressful on the joints due to it being soft and giving way in a random manner.

At the southern end of the beach the only sea birds to be seen were gulls, and the occasional duck. I had given up any thought of seeing herons, when almost at the northern end I saw them; more than a half dozen, and widely spread. This was the closest, and after staying still for some time it decided to stalk off stage, through and then out of the spotlight proved by the morning sun.

This week's challenge is texture, and I think that this picture presents a broad range of different textures, which combine in a single fabric of nature at its most peaceful, early on a calm morning.
