Trek to Fitzy!

We were debating last night at dinner what we should do today and came to the conclusion that a hike in a nearby(ish) town would be nice! The free entry to the park and free hikes without a guide were added bonuses. This trip was fully booked at the hostel we stayed at so at midnight we walked to another one 10 minutes away. It seemed pretty strange that we were booking a trip 7 hours before we were due to leave!
We were up at 6 today to make our half6 breakfast and surprisingly I felt great! However the other guy staying in our dorm didn't seem too happy about the early awakening but he didn't talk to us anyways. We didn't arrive at El Chalten until like half11 because of the various stop off points to take photos of the view of the mountains, which looking back didn't really seem worthwhile as the view was much more impressive throughout the hike itself.
Before commencing our uphill struggle we stopped at a bakery for some empanadas and to buy a sandwich for lunch. We decided to do the 4 hour trek to give us enough time for lunch and stopping for pictures etc. The walk began pretty intense but after half an hour or so it became very enjoyable. There were so many amazing views! After a few hours we stopped off at a lagoon for lunch which you can see in the picture. In the background is the Fitzroy mountain which takes around 6days to hike up and apparently it is only ever successfully ascended once a year!!
During the hike we didn't have a map and so we got slightly confused as to which point we had planned to walk to so we actually ended up walking too far and running out of time trying to reach a viewing point. We then had to rush back which wasn't as enjoyable as our hike there to say the least. However for my first proper hike I thoroughly enjoyed it! We walked for 6 hours in total and were all shattered by the end of it!
