I Spy with my Little Eye....
After reading an article in the National Geographic many years ago, in which Seagulls were given the very unlovely title of "rats of the air", I took a dislike to them!
I have found gulls to have a *lot* of gall, particularly when one is trying to feed the ducks and geese at nearby parks. The way these greedy birds swoop down out of the air and try to frighten the birds on the ground is less than appealing!
Well, this afternoon, Husband stopped outside McDonald's for a few minutes to (ahem) borrow some WiFi. (shhh...don't tell anyone..hehehe)
As we were sitting in the car, waiting for an update to download, I noticed this gull sitting atop what looks like a camera mounted on top of the store. It was quite comical, actually...the bird poised itself in such a way that it could easily watch in all directions in case some careless human might drop a morsel on the ground.
While waiting, I spotted a Grackle who managed to cop what looked like a small strip of cheese. The bird landed on the ground, only to become surrounded by a host of gulls, all wanting the treasured tasty tidbit. Being a smart Grackle, it lifted up into the air with lightening speed, leaving the unsuspecting gulls in its dust!
And so, the gull atop the camera sat and witnessed all this, perhaps thinking he might score an even bigger reward if patience is indeed a virtue!
(As an aside, the gull did not have a red rear end....it is color reflecting off the red roof adding a "bit" of color to the otherwise drab variations of grey prevalent in this photo!)
