On the Beech

Just taking random shots at lunchtime.

This was (mostly) out of the shed door.

Lots of our trees were very badly hit by the high winds at the end of May this year. Many beech trees were just putting out their soft, new leaves when the 100mph+ winds scorched them completely. The trees have held on to them, until now, but they have all fallen off without really showing any colour except those which were sheltered either in the centre of the tree or by other trees.

It would be interesting to see how the leaf damage has affected the growth rings.

I'll just get my chainsaw.......
