Hide and Seek
As the afternoon was rapidly fading and the air was getting chilly, I walked to the garage to grab some firewood. In making my way, I suddenly thought I heard the cheerful little song of a Chickadee. Funny, I saw no bird!
Thinking this might just turn into a photo op, I decided to get my camera from inside the house. When I came back out, I slowly walked over behind the garage....there is a large steep grade and all sorts of "weeds" grow there.
As I looked intently, I could hear more than one bird. And then, I spotted the little birds. They were hopping around from one weed stalk to another, gleaning seeds. It was so hard to photograph the little buggers, they moved about so quickly!
I felt bad, as after Angus' death, I had been a bit negligent in filling the feeder for the birds. It was a bit of a relief to see they can indeed rummage about for food before the really cold weather sets in. I have brought the container up and set it out as a reminder to make sure I feed them every day!
