Without Malice

Take in a Stray

I think it sad and shameful that people are neglected and betrayed by their neighbours. And yet I am no saint, and while I see this I am not sure I do much about it.

Whether you think company directors and bankers get large pay rises merely to reflect their institutional importance, or feel they cheat society at our expense, there is certainly great inequity in the world.

But blaming others won't change that. Bitching about failures won't fix them. Lambasting the rich won't help the poor. Indeed, I don't actually think that money is the problem. I think it's more that we don't care. About people, about communities, or about societies.

Absolution cannot be bought. No fiver in a collecting tin, or placard with witty slogan, will make change happen. No protest song or speech. Only you can. Or I can.

Make change, take in a stray.
