"Dad's Carpark"

Well that's not strictly true! Back in the 70s when our dad worked in the Leeds City Architects Department, he was responsible for drawing up the plans for this multi-storey carpark on Woodhouse Lane. Consequently, whenever we drove through the underpass next to the carpark on our way to the east coast for our hols, we would say 'Oo look it's dad's carpark!' In recent months I have seen it on local television, castigated as an eyesore on the Leeds skyline, but in its time, it was seen as an innovative, modern design - just shows how tastes change. As we walked up towards the University to take part in the Leeds Urban Orienteering Sprint this morning I spotted the crane demolishing the stairwells - could this be curtains for dad's carpark? I feel quite emotional!
