The Queens Way...

The rain and mist didn't stop us getting out and about today... we went over to the Galloway Forest Park. J's obviuosly been there lots but only about the third time for me, it's not too far from us and is really gorgeous.

This trip we stopped on The Queen's Way, which is a scenic road about 20 miles long. We walked up to Murray's Monument which was erested in 1835 in memory of Alexander Murray who ended his life about age 38, as a professor of Oriental Languages at Edinburgh University. The momument text tells us that he was raised as the sone of a shepherd on the local hills, which really impressed me.

The monument is huge, and at the top of the hill is also impressive, but I blipped the view from the top rather than the monument, but here's more info if you're interested Murray
