DAda
I do like a drop of decent beer and on hearing that top local brewer Thornbridge (www.thornbridgebrewery.co.uk) had taken over the former Trippet's bar in town, I thought it was worth a lunchtime visit. Taking tomorrow off work so Thursday is the new Friday tha knows!
Christened DAda it has 11 keg beers on tap, 4 handpulls and a load of bottled options. Always good when a pub has a menu containing only beer. A pint of Lord Marples was ordered and two Ken Barlows (halves) for my colleagues.
It has only been open since Tuesday night and this lunchtime there were only 4 people in; the three of us and a smart looking older gent.
I am not really sure who their target market is? It has a tagline - Beer Music Community Arts and with Martyn Ware (Heaven 17 frontman) curating the look of the place it feels like it is aimed at a younger crowd. It certainly had interesting decor, a couple of walls covered in these murals of all things Sheffield, Thornbridge and local culture. Dada being the cultural movement that met in a Zurich bar called Cabaret Voltaire (from which the Sheffield band took their name). What references can you pick out in the photo?
I'll certainly be back. I just hope it lasts when you see so many bars disappearing rapidly after their opening.
