A "proper" football fan
Today in the post I received a Bristol City matchday programme from the game bs Birmingham City last Sunday. So why would I be receiving that.
A fellow football blogger (and Bristol City fan) Paul Binning had contacted me on twitter to say he was mentioning my blog http://aunitedview.blogspot.com with others in his regular article for the City programme. This was it. His "On The Social" article recommends 4 football blogs worth a visit; two excellent football league sites - www.theseventytwo.com and http://thetwounfortunates.blogspot.com , a blog by Rochdale fan Sarah Lomas www.girlonaterrace.com and mine.
I was touched by Paul's words about the blog. In weeks when page views are low and you wonder why you bother, these bits of feedback on twitter or elsewhere keep your chin up to carry on. I've put Paul's words below.
"A United View: Sheffield United follower Ian Rands is what I call a 'proper' football fan. Alongside an always informative mix of Blades-specific posts sits a brilliantly presented 'Charting the season in football' which looks at current stories through a series of charts and pictures and always makes me chuckle.'
'Additionally a handful of his personal experiences, watching either the Blades or his wife's team Bolton Wanderers, are written with real passion and generically enough that you don't have to be a fan if either club to feel real affiliation with the articles. His Dislikable XI series in the Summer was also a huge success, with all contributors neatly mixing players from their fierce rivals with those who just downright annoy them!'
