treasures from the forest floor

we've spent the day lugging wood from one place to another again. We wanted to get everything we had cut under cover before the nasty weather comes in. So today we've sawn logs and stacked them, sawn tree trunks and stacked them, sawn branches and stacked them. We have wood to burn down here at the house and wood to season stacked and covered up there in the forest. Providing it doesn't get too cold (like last year BRRRRRR) we should have enough wood cut to last 'til Christmas, when the whole round of fun will start again.
The tree trunks were too heavy for the littles to lug around (they were nearly too heavy for me!) so I sent them off to pick up beechnuts - a yummy and cheap alternative to pine-kernels, if you can find someone to crawl around the floor to get them for you ;-)
Now we are all exhausted and Mr. S has a sore thumb. Good job it's going to rain all day tomorrow and we can just stay at home....well, kind of, something like that....
