The end of the world
The highlight of the day was a walk to the end of the world. In reality, the north end of the island. Even though you can see other islands from there, I always feel like I've walked to the edge of the known world, or even the universe. This is the beach where a man meets the selkie who will steal his heart, or a woman waits for her lover to return from the seas. There is a cold, unfeeling wild atmosphere, but one that makes me feel so at home. I want to put this walk to music some day, listening as I walk. Naturally, I think The Ship Song, particularly Amanda Palmer's version may fit the bill.
I've been there before, but perhaps hadn't noticed an area of old landfill. It made me incredibly sad.
Back at Grianan I baked banana bread and Col made his amazing mac and cheese for dinner. I found out that I won't know more about the progress of my application until next week, but I buried myself in my current affairs textbook regardless. We played scrabble for the last time during the holiday, by our last fire. I won. We continued on our quest to watch all Star Trek films, they don't improve with time...
