A day in Edinburgh
We woke up late today. I had initially planned to go out with ERC on the bike it was wet n windy outside .....a long lie in bed won out!
Rosemary n I decided to got for a late lunch at the Broughton Cafe. They do amazing salads....best ever in fact and not bad cakes too. Service was a bit rubbish today with my pizza being served when Rosemary had nearly finished her crepe. No apology for the wait, but it's impossible to get good staff all the time with service being faultless on previous visits.
I saved my coffee for Artisan Roast which is just round the corner. We really struggled to get a seat as we had picked a busy time but squeezed in the Hooch where my blip photo was taken. Artisan have revolutionised coffee drinking in Edinburgh and are now roasting for quite a few places in town now, which can only be a positive.
My only fear is they are becoming too popular for their own good, as I've not seen the boss on my last few visits and espresso has been inconsistent maybe as a result. It was ok on Saturday but just a hint of bitterness! I bought a bag of Janszoon for home though. I love how they do a light to medium roast as it brings out the sweetness!
We then headed up to the Dominion to watch Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor. The sofa seats were too comfy and I struggled to stay awake. Although it was my choice of film, I think Rosemary enjoyed it more. Maybe a tad complex for a sleepy bald man!
